25th April 2012 - ANZAC DAY - Martins Bend (153)

Exploring - packed a picnic lunch and headed off for Barmera, Waikerie and where ever we end up.  Little bit of drizzle now after waking up to a sunny morning. NO WIND..... Had lunch by the Murray at Waikerie then got on the Ferry to go towards Overland Corner.  Stopped beside the road to grab a bit of kindling for our fire.  The camp ground where we are staying has been picked clean.  Stopped to have a look at the Historic Overland Corner Hotel, and called in for some photos, hot chocolate and a good look around.  Lovely old pub with lots of memorabilia.  Then it was onto Lock 3 where we again took some photos.  It is incredible to think of how much water there must have been through this area in 1956 when it flooded.  The height marker is nearly at the top of the indicator pole.  Bought some lovely grapes and a pumpkin from a roadside seller, then went to the Water Tower Lookout at Berri and climbed the 100 steps to the top for a good look around.
